Making Light of Torches

Making Light of Torches

LOCKLITE
The verdict: With the nights getting darker and drunker finding the keyhole in your front door can be hard. The LockLite clips around any Yale key and provides you with a light when you need it most. Powered by an LED bulb, it will, say its makers, last you more than 100, 000 hours so enough for the odd late night out. Score: 4/5

With Stallone coming back as a super-annuated Rambo in Pearl of the Cobra, what better time to go and buy the things that he keeps round is neck to remind himself what his name is? These stainless-steel Swiss Army dog tags are even better than Sly’s, packing in two knives, a file, bottle opener, screwdriver, a pair of tweezers and a blindingly bright LED light for night combat. Alas, though, there’s a no needle and thread for repairing flesh wounds al fresco.

The LockLite is one of those inexpensive gizmos that make you wonder how you managed before. It clips onto any standard round-ended key, turning it into a powerful LED torch. This means less fumbling to get your key in the lock in the dark. The light is visible up to a mile away, the batteries are replaceable and the bulb has a 100, 000-hour life.
